Those who are full timers for KPSC,
Pre first hurdle amongst the three, to cross it analyse the pattern of Pre, components of pre paper I & II seperately.
Paper I consist: ???
Paper II consis:???
To answer to this two questions refer KPSC syllabus.
Then prepare a seperate strategy for each component. Eg. for history: Freedom movement but it should be studied considering all the steams of flow. like, Socio-Relg. movement, Pre congress movt, moderates, extremist, Gandhian struggle, Revolutionary movt. and then have a broad look of constitution devt, educational devt & press etc.
This must be covered provided that you must remember the names and dates of important events and personality. Ofcourse if you cover above points you will link up the facts.
Like wise you should have guidlines for each coponent of GS paper I & II.
Hope, this will help and if required will post in future too.

Exams should be conducted Every year. since the last exam was delayed,Read Jan 5th Prajavani paper.KPSC Chairman has told they are planning to conduct the exam within 10 Days of the UPSC prelims in 2013. Since that UPSC has planned exam on May 19th 2013, you can expect KAS prelims around June 1st week. Anyways its just a plan they proposed.

Hi...its a very gud initiation to run a blog particularly dealing with kpsc.
I gave this times kpsc mains.it was a bit different frm the previous question pattern.there was a tendency for questions to b unconventional..i mean more of opinion based and analytical questions were asked.

Anonymous said...

Will you share your optionals please and your talking about which suject, as I have heard Kannada lit. paper was quite straight forward and simple to answer. This is just told story.

Please do check GS books Page at the top.

Hi,
As I wrote mains, and compared it to my earlier mains of KPSC and UPSC I find this time mains is little bit titled towards UPSC's short questions. As far as Hist, RD, Pol Sci, Pub AD.... peoples say (including my view) papers were analytical. But what about Lit...???
Message to new comers is, prepare holistic and not selective.
"You should not left any stone unturned"

@sk : hi i wil b writing kas this time, i had selected one opt subject as pub ad, books i am referring are laxmikanth, prasad n prasad. These books are enough? Pls guide.

Your blog had been pretty useful for the GS mains- the River system, Sakala and e-governance. You nailed it Bang! Thank you!
Could anyone share a few facts on the interview?
The procedure and probable tone?

Would be useful to rookies but optimists like me:-)

thanks a lot sk

If anybody said so about Kannada papers, it shows their ignorance. paper-2 was more of opinion based and u may reach some safe score; but difficult to score more.

Hello Everyone,

I'm working MBA graduate and planning to write KAS Prelims.

As approx 5-6 months time available for me to prepare for exam, guys do you think is it enough time for me to compete with people who are seriously preparing from long time. And how much time needs to be dedicated and advise me how to start my preparation.

I'm greedy about getting information, advise on the optional to choose will be greatful.

Thanks you so much in advance.

Shaistha

@ Shaistha, I have already answered this question in a post. since that i feel you already know much about how civil service exams work want to answer your question.
1.It doesn't matter from how long you prepare for this exam.
2.The person who is studying from 3 years may not pass prelims itself sometimes or the person who prepared just for a month might clear the exam some times.
So no one can actually say anything on this. Just study well Compete with yourself you are the best person who can tell about your abilities. all i want to say is when you have decided to appear for KAS just Start reading instead of just calculating the days or anything else. good luck

I have some different views on this, (Always there will be dif. views of diff.candidates and I can not argue might is right)
My learning from compet.exams is (may be becoz of it could not see failure at least in pre. UPSC/KPSC)
1. GS is not a paper to be covered in short time, you must have several months preparation like 1 year(If ur competiting in GM, for others may be... little less but not sure)
2.Your holistic study of GS will help in Mains too. That is clarity of concepts of Science, Geo, Eco & understanding the flow of History, develop the technique to remember the data of Eco. survey (this is new req. of KPSC pre)etc,
3.Learn on own to compete the pressure
a)Of study, b)Of low moral (it is cyclical)
c)Of exam time and of other candidates
Eg.I ve seen the peoples at exam halls speak in such language as the paper is set by them & know everything, but just neglect the others donot talk more to them at least during this phase.

There are various things to write for Shaistha, if req. will try humbly to write more.

Ashwini said...

@ SK,

Thanks for your view, and i welcome it, at least KAS prelims can be cleared by preparing in a month but not Mains Exam again it depends on personal skills in studies.

SK said...

Hi Ashwini, May be your views are correct.
However I see the candidate ask the openion here are fresh and does not have background of UPSC or prior exp.of KPSC.
Those who have studied UPSC sincerely, really may not require more than 15 days.
Freshers, if you take KPSC lightly, it will too take you lightly.
The changed pre. pattern last year have failed the many candidates wrote mains earlier and some of them have seen the interviews. Indication is, be sincere to your object and be planned to GS throughly.
Summation is sincere efforts will succeds you irrespective of your edu, fin, soc & pol. background.

Hi, Pl."Go Green". If u r not comftbl, book shops will help you.
What to do with it?...
1.Read thoroughly if u have >5 months time,
2. If not then: 1.Karnataka at a glance
2.Highlights
3.Eco overview
4.State finance
5.Invest. & Export
6.Agri. & Allied 7.Ind & com 8.Human Devt and Social sector,
Nanjundappa report.
8th is very important.
How? Tables study: eg.a) compare 2004-05 fig. with current,
Absulute no. now & then,% growth sector wise and year wise
draw ur own notes of: 1.component of various schemes:objects,
achievent, facts etc
eg b)Agri study: Produ in abslt. qty, area under cultivation
crop wise prod. new initiatives etc
eg c)HD & Soc.: new schemes for weaker sections, new schemes
in health, sanitation etc,

kannada paper was not that easy as people think..... dorrada betta kaNNige nuNNage,
if it is the case all would have taken kannada lit :)

SK said...

No doubt, there is diff.of level in standard of opt. sub. No comparison of Kannada lit. with other optional. Definitely it is easy compared to History, Pol.sci. Philosophy, geography etc.
Lets talk the stat: 2010 mains:Kannada lit.
opt. by 2700 cand.(out of 4500 aprox)This record of level of cand. opting the single opt.
Marks >300 scored by 465 cand.
In none of the sub. cand. have % wise or absol. no.have scored such drastic marks.
Intention here is not to hurt u or anybody else but fact is fact. We should not misguide anybody,
I have seen the level of History, pol.sci, in UPSC & KPSC, and also written the RD in KPSC. Earlier two are very vast and subjective papers where as RD or Kannada are not so.
I would request others to present their views if they have written His. Pol.sci, Geo, etc.
